Cherry was born in Ludhiana,Punjab, on September 7th,1970. She was named Urvinder.

Cherry was a very private person.

Cherry’s parents lived in Kohima, Nagaland. She went to Little Flower Kindergarten School in Kohima for a year and was then sent to live with her uncle and his family in Ajmer,Rajasthan where she studied at Sophia School.

Dreamy eyed, she smiled her slow elusive smile only when she really wanted to.

Thereafter, Cherry went to Mussorie in the Himalayas.

A feminist in the true sense of the word, she was the epitome of the ideal that believed that equality did not mean denying of one’s feminine self.

After school, Cherry studied art history and graduated from Knox University,Illinois in the US.
She returned to India in 1994.
Her parents moved to Delhi.
Her older brother and sister continue to live in USA.

Cherry was not 'cute' and 'sweet'. She was feminine to the core.

Initially in Delhi,Cherry worked for the Hindustan Times newspaper where she wrote on diverse subjects that she was passionate about. From environment and nature to alternative medicine and traditional health foods and diet.

Then one day she walked in to People Tree….
